The 83rd Golden Globe Awards wrapped up on Jan. 11 at the Beverly Hilton in California, kicking off Hollywood’s awards season with wins spanning film, television, music, and, for the first time, podcasts. The ceremony saw comedian Nikki Glaser returning as host for a second straight year.
The music categories drew particular attention. Best original song went to “Golden,” the eight-week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit performed by HUNTR/X for Netflix’s animated film “KPop Demon Hunters.” The song beat out a star-studded field that included entries by Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Nick Cave. “KPop Demon Hunters” also won the award for best animated motion picture. Best original score went to Ludwig Goransson for “Sinners,” his second Globe win after “Oppenheimer” in 2024.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” dominated the musical or comedy film categories, winning best picture, director, and screenplay. In drama, “Hamnet” claimed best picture. Meanwhile, Wagner Moura delivered the night’s biggest upset, winning best male actor in a drama for “The Secret Agent.”
On television, “Adolescence” swept the limited series categories. The Globes also debuted a best podcast award, won by “Good Hang With Amy Poehler.”
