South Korea’s leading hospitals have again proven their global excellence, securing multiple top spots in Newsweek’s “Best Specialized Hospitals Asia Pacific 2025” rankings.
In an evaluation conducted by Newsweek and global data firm Statista, Seoul Asan Medical Center claimed No. 1 in three specialties: cardiology, endocrinology, and orthopedics. Samsung Medical Center claimed the top spot in oncology and pulmonology, while Seoul National University Hospital led pediatrics.
The annual survey covered nine medical fields, including cardiac surgery, neurology, and neurosurgery. It involved responses from more than 8,000 medical professionals across 10 Asia-Pacific countries, including South Korea, Japan, Australia, and India. In total, Korean hospitals led in six out of nine areas.
Regional institutions also earned recognition. Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital and Chonnam National University Hospital were listed among the top 100 for oncology and pediatrics, respectively.
Domestically, Seoul Asan, Samsung, and Seoul National University hospitals solidified their reputation as the country’s top three in specialized care. Newsweek’s report also pointed to Asia’s rapidly aging population, estimating that by 2025, one in four people in the region will be over 60, increasing the demand for specialized medical services.
