NVIDIA Unveils Open Humanoid Robot Model, Partners With Google DeepMind and Disney0NVIDIA has announced the Isaac GR00T N1, the world’s first open humanoid robot foundation model, designed to enhance generalized reasoning and skills in robotics. The model, available now, is fully customizable and aims to accelerate robotic development amid a global labor shortage.

The GR00T N1 model features a dual-system architecture, with System 1 handling fast-thinking reflexes and System 2 managing deliberate decision-making. Trained with synthetic data generated through NVIDIA Omniverse, GR00T N1 can generalize across various tasks, including grasping, moving objects, and multi-step operations. Early adopters include Agility Robotics, Boston Dynamics, and NEURA Robotics.

NVIDIA is also collaborating with Google DeepMind and Disney Research to develop Newton, an open-source physics engine optimized for robotic learning. Newton will integrate with Google DeepMind’s MuJoCo and Disney’s physics engine for enhanced simulation capabilities.

Additionally, NVIDIA introduced the GR00T Blueprint for synthetic data generation, which significantly increases training efficiency. The company is releasing its GR00T N1 dataset on Hugging Face (an open-source AI community and platform) to further support the developer community.
