Seoul’s Asan Medical Center has been ranked 25th in the 2025 World’s Best Hospitals list, the highest position among South Korean hospitals.
On Feb. 27, American news magazine Newsweek released the annual “World’s Best Hospitals” ranking in collaboration with global data firm Statista. The evaluation covered over 2,400 hospitals worldwide, considering recommendations from medical professionals, patient satisfaction, and key performance indicators.
South Korea had six hospitals in the top 100. Although Asan Medical Center dropped three spots from last year, it has consistently maintained the No. 1 ranking among domestic hospitals since 2019. Samsung Medical Center (30th), Seoul National University Hospital (42nd), Severance Hospital (46th), Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (68th), and Gangnam Severance Hospital (87th) followed in the rankings.
An additional 10 South Korean hospitals made the top 250, with Ajou University Hospital ranking highest at 103rd.
The Mayo Clinic in the U.S. was ranked the world’s best hospital, followed by the Cleveland Clinic in the U.S., Toronto General Hospital in Canada, The Johns Hopkins Hospital in the U.S., and Karolinska University Hospital in Sweden. Singapore General Hospital ranked highest in Asia at ninth place.
