Health Officials Warn of Rising Norovirus Cases Among Young Children

Health Officials Warn of Rising Norovirus Cases Among Young Children0Health officials are warning families as norovirus cases continue to climb across the country. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) reported on Jan. 23 that infections have risen for 10 weeks, with children aged 6 and under comprising more than half of all cases.

This stomach bug is tough. It can survive on surfaces for days and spreads easily through touch or contaminated food. Symptoms include vomiting and stomach pain, which usually appear within two days.

Experts recommend washing hands regularly with soap. Food should be cooked thoroughly, and patients should stay home for two days after their symptoms have disappeared to avoid spreading the bug.
