Movies started out as only black and white, but filmmakers dreamed of adding color. At first, they painted each frame by hand! Later, inventors created cameras that mixed two colors, though the results looked dull. Everything changed in the 1930s with Technicolor, which used three film strips to capture red, green, and blue. Suddenly, movies looked alive! When “The Wizard of Oz” showed a world full of bright colors in 1939, audiences were amazed. And soon, color films became the new normal.
