A Short History of Space Stations

A Short History of Space Stations0Space stations are homes for astronauts in space. The first space station was the Soviet Union’s Salyut 1 in 1971. Then came America’s Skylab in 1973. After that, Russia built Mir. It stayed in space for 15 years.

In 1998, 15 countries helped build the International Space Station (ISS). It is still flying above Earth today. Astronauts from many nations stay there and do science experiments. The space station is almost as big as a soccer field.

People hope to build more space stations in the future. These stations help us learn about space and how to live far from Earth.
