What Is Radiation?

What Is Radiation?0Radiation is the energy that travels through space or objects. We see it every day. It is the sunlight that warms our skin, the radio waves that transmit music to our homes, and the microwaves that heat our food. These are called “non-ionizing” and are usually safe. Stronger “ionizing” radiation, like X-rays, can harm cells in high doses. That’s why doctors wear lead aprons for safety. Even though some types can be dangerous, radiation helps us see, cook, heal, and power our world.
