Kim Young-beom is rapidly gaining recognition as one of South Korea’s most promising swimmers. On June 13, he took first place in the men’s 100-meter freestyle at the Gwangju National Swimming Championships, finishing in 47.85 seconds. The time was only 0.29 seconds slower than the Korean record and was faster than his personal best of 47.98 seconds, which he set three months ago.
Kim is the tallest swimmer ever to join South Korea’s national team. He is 195 cm tall with an arm span of 216 cm. He graduated from Gangwon Physical Education High School and signed with the Gangwon State in January 2025.
