Victor Jerome Glover, a NASA astronaut, made history in 2020 as the first Black person to complete a long-duration mission aboard the International Space Station. While launching from Earth, he admired the striking sight of the bright blue planet from orbit, especially because much of the world was under lockdown.
Glover is preparing for Artemis II, a groundbreaking mission planned for 2026. It will send astronauts farther from Earth than before, including a loop around the far side of the moon. Glover hopes to inspire others to keep reaching for new frontiers.
