Second Private Spacecraft Reaches the Moon

Second Private Spacecraft Reaches the Moon0On March 2, Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost lander safely landed on the Moon. It became the second private spacecraft to do this.

The lander carried 10 NASA science tools to study the Moon. It landed in Mare Crisium, a large area on the Moon’s surface.

Blue Ghost launched from Florida on Jan. 15, 2025, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. After landing, it sent pictures, including a selfie and a photo of Earth.

The mission lasted for about 14 Earth days. Scientists will use the data to learn more about the Moon’s surface and space weather.
