NASA has updated its warning about asteroid 2024 YR4. Once thought to be a possible threat, the asteroid now has a very small chance of hitting Earth.
The odds of it striking the planet on Dec. 22, 2032, are just one in 26,000. This means there is a 99.9961 percent chance the asteroid will safely pass by Earth. In February, the asteroid’s risk of impact was as high as 3.1 percent.
The asteroid was once considered a big risk, but now it is no longer a threat. People can now feel safe knowing asteroid 2024 YR4 is not a danger to Earth.
