Ole Kirk Christiansen0Ole Kirk Christiansen, the founder of Lego, began his career as a carpenter and opened a carpentry shop in Denmark in 1916. During the Great Depression, he started creating wooden toys, which quickly became popular. In 1932, he founded an unnamed wooden toy company. He named it “Lego” in 1934, from the Danish words Leg godt, meaning “play well.”

In 1947, Lego adopted plastic molding, creating the “Automatic Binding Brick.” Today, Christiansen’s legacy spans over 130 countries worldwide.
