Christopher Latham Sholes

Christopher Latham Sholes0Christopher Latham Sholes was an American inventor known for creating the QWERTY keyboard we use today. After completing school, he trained under a printer and moved to Wisconsin in 1837 to assist his brothers with their newspaper. He later became the editor of the Wisconsin Enquirer and entered politics. In 1868, Sholes collaborated with Samuel W. Soulé and Carlos Glidden to patent their typewriter design. He eventually sold his patent to the Remington Arms Company, which produced the first typewriters that closely resembled today’s keyboard layout.
