Total Solar Eclipse

Total Solar Eclipse0A total solar eclipse is an astronomical event where the Moon moves between the Earth and the Sun, completely blocking the sunlight.

During a total solar eclipse, the sky turns dark, making it seem like nighttime. People worldwide gather along the totality path. That is where people can see the Moon completely block the Sun.

During a solar eclipse, you must never look directly at the Sun since it can hurt your eyes. The most recent total solar eclipse happened over North America on Apr. 8. The next one will occur on Aug. 12, 2026, over Greenland, Iceland, and Spain.
