Lee Tai-young achieved numerous firsts in Korea. In 1946, she became the first woman to enter Seoul National University. In 1949, she became the first woman to obtain a law degree. Lee then passed the National Judicial Examination in 1952, becoming the first woman to do so. In 1957, she founded the Women’s Legal Counseling Center to assist financially challenged women. The Center, now known as the Korea Legal Aid Center for Family Relations, provides legal assistance to over 10,000 clients annually.
