Iceland Volcano Erupts Again

Iceland Volcano Erupts Again0On Mar. 16, a volcano in Iceland erupted for the fourth time in three months. The volcano shot out bright orange lava into the night sky.

Scientists from the Icelandic Meteorological Office have been studying the volcano and knew that an eruption was very likely. Monitoring the volcano prepared officials to evacuate people when the eruption began.

The eruption happened about 50 km from Iceland’s capital Reykjavík. Last November, the volcano awoke after almost 800 quiet years. The first eruption occurred on Dec. 18 near the town of Grindavík.
